Sie ist eine der schönsten Kirchen Deutschlands und ein Juwel des Allgäuer Pfaffenwinkels Around 1085, the time of the founding of the monastery by Duke Welf I, a Romanesque three-nave basilica was built with transept and flat roof. Middle of the 15th century the church was rebuilt for the first time by the builder Hansen. Today the church is a basilica, with free-standing bell tower and Romanesque ground plan.
