The area was mediocre, the hotel is in a 'food/restaurant desert', the doors could only be closed by slamming them which meant overnight each time...

"We had a pleasant stay at the Hotel de France. The location is perfect as it is walking distance from the train station and in the city centre. You have plenty of bakeries and shops around the hotel. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We actually slept like babies as the bedding was so comfortable! "This hotel was easy to find and although we speak no French the welcome was warm and helpful. This hotel is the old French style so is quite dark inside but there is a great terrace where an excellent meal was served. After we ordered our meal we received a small pre dinner canapé which we assumed was complimentary as all other tables were served with this treat as well. The next morning we noted it was on our account as petit dejeuner for 18 euro but the person behind the desk did not speak...
