"This is a nice hotel. The staff was friendly and very helpful, helping to take our luggages. However, an hotel with 3 stories should have an elevator. We were on the top floor. The room was a good size and clean. This was a quick stop on our way to Nice so the location was not important which is a good thing because it was not close to much."

The owner was a fantastic host - he explained the evening meal (local produce, excellent and cooked by his wife) in great detail.He also explained the available wines and, of course, the history of Chatreause. As we were leaving the next morning, he insisted we drive to the end of the valley before we continued South - wow! It was really worth it with stunning mountain scenery."

"A peaceful, comfortable stay with excellent, good value meals in the village of St Julien-en-Beauchene, a fine location for excellent walks in the adjacent hills and mountains. It is a good place to stop over if heading south from Grenoble on the D1075. Also the Grenoble - Nice bus service stops at the door."

"Caters for car/bike travellers, everything you need, I would say, away from the hotels influence, the church bell rings on the hour, not sure what time it keeps through the night, but it did wake me up. Otherwise brilliant."
