"The staff was extremely concerned with our well being and have offered a very nice commercial gesture to compensate for the lack of hot water in our room. Our room faced the city of Gien and the view was really great. One just have to walk accross a bridge to reach the interesting sidewalk with restaurants on the other side of the Loire. I prefer that view (Castle of Anne de Beaujeu) from the one the hotels on the other side of the rriver would have. Highly recommended hotel."

The location is great, the auberge is in a village which feels very secluded because of the surrounding forest but is in reality perfectly placed as a staging post to or from southern France. "We were made to feel very welcome by the hotelier and staff even though we had to make a last minute change to our booking. The room and en suite was clean, spacious and comfortable. Dinner was delicious. The hotel is within easy walking distance to the centre of town. Breakfast choices were limited and lacked cereals for instance. This comfortable hotel would benefit from some redecorating, particularly the entrance and stairs, but this is easily offset by the warm welcome offered."
