"I stayed at the lodge primarily for the dark skies and was not disappointed....the stars popped by 9pm and were beautiful. The main draws for the lodge are the mt bike lift and trails down the mountain and boat launching. Unfortunately the lake is too low there for any boating. "Loved our stay here! Came for a weekend trip (stayed in Cottage 10) and it was the perfect spot for a getaway in the hill country. We came at night and it is far from the main road (and from downtown Fredericksburg is about 30 min out). We had no problem being a bit further out, as we would just go downtown and to the wineries during the day. I would definitely be careful with deer/wild animals if you are driving at night.
